How It Works

How to get started with your mural project

Thank you for your interest in learning more about how the mural process works. I have provided an outline of how we will approach your project. from start to finish.

INITIAL CONSULTATION

Initially after we receive your inquiry, we will follow up by contacting you to have a conversation and gather more details about your project. The initial consultation is free. We will discuss the project to gather everything we need to know. We want to hear more, learn about your property or space, and hear about your vision, if you don’t have one, we can submit ideas for you. After you have decided to move forward with the design process, we will discuss details and what may fit your budget, after you decide to move forward we will secure a deposit for the design phase to add you to our schedule.

After we gather images and references for your design, we will provide you graphic renders until we get the design dialed in to how you like it. we provide up to 4 design revisions. You as the client are responsible to approve your design. You will be shown sketches and design ideas to determine the exact design for your murals.

DEPOSIT

A deposit is required to book and get started in designing the concept for your mural, The deposit amount is usually 50% of the total or a suggested amount of the total cost. This is due upon the client’s decision to move forward with the concept design phase. Once we receive the design deposit, we will begin working on designs for your project. We will work on your design until we get it to your liking. We offer up to 4 revisions. any edits or updates are to be approved by you, the client. Deposits are non refundable. When you decide to move forward with your mural or design project, you are agreeing to have one of our artists create the artwork.

After we finalize your design we will await your approval. After the client approves the artwork we can then schedule a start date dependent upon our schedule and availability.

MURAL PRICING

Mural pricing is determined by a few factors:

1. Location
2. Sq. Footage
3. Cost of materials
4. Intricacy of design
5. Location

Size and location are the most obvious factors that goes into pricing a mural project. The larger the area to be painted, the higher the cost.  In order to determine the total area to be painted, simply multiply the width times the height, in feet — this gives you the total area in square feet of your mural project.

Complexity of design is the second factor which goes into pricing a mural. Simply put, the lower the level of detail, the lower the price per square foot. Figures, lettering and Trompe L’oeil details take time to paint. Location of the mural also plays a factor – ground level murals are more accessible, large scale, and higher upper level locations and intricacy in the detail of the artwork increases the cost.

The basic cost for most murals can vary  $20-$35 per square foot.

Prices vary depending on the difficulty or intricacy of the design.
There may be additional charges depending on working conditions such as restricted hours of operation, cramped spaces or driving time and distance.

Pricing may or may not include materials. However, certain items, such as specialized equipment or scaffolding needed to complete the job will be added to the price of the supplies and materials estimate.

Before your wall mural project begins it will be assumed that there is a base coat of paint on the wall and a cleared work space.

Please move as much furniture out of the room as possible

Any prep painting, wall patching, or wall preparation can add an additional fee.

Prep painting may include filling holes in walls, texturing and putting a primer or base coat on the wall.

If you have a tight budget, to lower your cost, I suggest having the wall prepared.

Whether your project is big or modest, every mural is important to me and no job is too small for consideration. I’ll work with you to give you a great design for your budget. I am happy to scale my designs to suit smaller budgets.

Some elements which play in the estimate of a mural’s price are the dimensions of the space, the style, and the amount of detail desired. We will be happy to discuss all the considerations and choices that can help minimize your mural’s cost.

CREATIVE PROCESS

An artist or crew will typically paint for about 6-8 hours each day, usually starting as earliest we can access the project site. On outdoor projects, we may start as early as 8 am or as late as noon, depending on the sun exposure of the wall and weather conditions. This can also vary for indoor spaces. I will also touch base regularly as the work progresses to ensure that expectations are being met and everything is on the right track.

My focus is on executing a masterpiece, we will work until we are both satisfied with the results. When we are close to completion, we will notify you and review the finished work together, we love to see the first expression after we have finished your masterpiece.
