MURAL PRICING
Mural pricing is determined by a few factors:
1. Location
2. Sq. Footage
3. Cost of materials
4. Intricacy of design
5. Location
Size and location are the most obvious factors that goes into pricing a mural project. The larger the area to be painted, the higher the cost. In order to determine the total area to be painted, simply multiply the width times the height, in feet — this gives you the total area in square feet of your mural project.
Complexity of design is the second factor which goes into pricing a mural. Simply put, the lower the level of detail, the lower the price per square foot. Figures, lettering and Trompe L’oeil details take time to paint. Location of the mural also plays a factor – ground level murals are more accessible, large scale, and higher upper level locations and intricacy in the detail of the artwork increases the cost.
The basic cost for most murals can vary anywhere from $10-$35 per square foot.
Prices vary depending on the content and detail, this could be basic shapes or basic detail, or difficulty or intricacy of the design.
There may be additional charges depending on working conditions such as restricted hours of operation, ease of access, cramped spaces or driving time and distance.
Pricing may or may not include materials. However, certain items, such as specialized equipment or scaffolding needed to complete the job will be added to the price of the supplies and materials estimate.
Before your wall mural project begins it will be assumed that there is a base coat of paint on the wall and a cleared work space.
Please move as much furniture out of the room as possible
Any prep painting, wall patching, or wall preparation can add an additional fee.
Prep painting may include filling holes in walls, texturing and putting a primer or base coat on the wall.
If you have a tight budget, to lower your cost, I suggest having the wall prepared.
Whether your project is big or modest, every mural is important to me and no job is too small for consideration. I’ll work with you to give you a great design for your budget. I am happy to scale my designs to suit smaller budgets.
Some elements which play in the estimate of a mural’s price are the dimensions of the space, the style, and the amount of detail desired. We will be happy to discuss all the considerations and choices that can help minimize your mural’s cost.
CREATIVE PROCESS
An artist or crew will typically paint for about 6-8 hours each day, usually starting as earliest we can access the project site. On outdoor projects, we may start as early as 8 am or as late as noon, depending on the sun exposure of the wall and weather conditions. This can also vary for indoor spaces. I will also touch base regularly as the work progresses to ensure that expectations are being met and everything is on the right track.
My focus is on executing a masterpiece, we will work until we are both satisfied with the results. When we are close to completion, we will notify you and review the finished work together, we love to see the first expression after we have finished your masterpiece.
