Epoxy flooring refers to a floor that has been coated with a protective layer of epoxy. This layer is made of polymer or water based resins and hardeners which are mixed together before their application. Epoxy paints are tough, durable and highly stain resistant.

Some applications may require different prepping methods, such as sanding, repairing cracks or resurfacing concrete, although this may add to the cost, epoxy floors are more cost-effective than many alternatives. The installation is straightforward and doesn’t require a significant overhaul, which reduces labor costs.

Epoxy is also becoming more popular in all types of rooms, especially areas such as entertainment, work or creative areas such as kitchens to protect the floor from food spillage/staining, and in bathrooms as it has anti-slip benefits. Epoxy floors can also become a design feature of the room as there are customizable options of pre-tinted and metallic epoxy floors – or you can even select an epoxy paint that mimics the look of traditional marble. Or get creative as we like to, create a custom splash of art on your floor!

Epoxy flooring is extremely durable, making it a popular choice for workspaces and industrial settings. It is nonflammable and can withstand high traffic, chemical spills, and force damage. Epoxy flooring is also slip and shock resistant and can last for as long as 20 years when correctly installed.

Epoxy paint is also used for flooring in situations with a high level of traffic. Due to its durability, epoxy paint is also perfect for application in garages, basements and warehouses.

As the most budget-friendly option, water-based epoxy is easy to install and durable. It consists of water, epoxy, and hardener. As the water evaporates from the epoxy, it hardens into a durable and glossy surface. Since it contains water, installers don’t need to wait for the concrete substrate to dry before installation.

Water-based epoxy is low in VOCs and is environmentally safe, making it a solid, affordable option.
